Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

The Head in the Sand Approach to Water Vapour in the Marine World

The Head in the Sand Approach to Water Vapour in the Marine World

Understanding how to overcome a spectrum of special problems that water vapour causes in marine environment is hard.  From failing electronics to "watertight" seals and from marine plywood to equipment that jams and consumables that rot. There are two approaches – the head in the sand approach or practical testing.

Versaperm has introduced a testing service to measure this critical vapour permeability for products, electronics and materials in the marine environment.  The service is based around its new high-speed testing equipment - which can often turn around results within 24 hours, instead of the weeks than can be taken by conventional testing techniques.

Versaperm can test and measure vapour permeability not just for materials but also for finished products, electronic enclosures and most other marine products, including virtually any type of package or configuration.  Permeability can be measured not just for common water vapour problems but also for hydrocarbons, oxygen, carbon dioxide and all other relevant gases and vapours.

It is important to have the ability to measure both material samples and finished products as manufacturing processes can substantially change a product's permeability.

Results are accurate in the parts per million or parts per billion ranges depending on the material and vapour.  Where desired Versaperm can also control environmental conditions such as temperature and pressure, even across diurnal and seasonal cycles.

As well as its sample testing Versaperm develops and manufactures its own ranges of vapour testing equipment which are used by companies, universities, and national standards laboratories around the world.
